Year 1 - Ms Granleese

Welcome to Class 1G!

Class 1G is a happy, busy, and inclusive learning space where children are supported to learn, play, and grow together. We focus on creating a structured and nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of every child.

How We Learn:

Our daily routine in 1G blends sensory-rich experiences with structured activities to support communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing. We use visual supports and consistent routines to help children access learning in a way that suits their individual needs. Each day includes:
• Structured table-top play to build focus and fine motor skills
• Messy play to encourage creativity and sensory exploration
• 1:1 and small group learning tailored to individual targets
• Outdoor learning, including weekly sessions in Forest School

We explore communication in many forms - through touch, sensory stories, and exploratory play. Our sensory circuits help children regulate and get ready for learning, while sensory stories bring language to life using movement, texture, and sound. These experiences foster emotional connection, understanding, and expression, helping each child find their voice in a way that’s meaningful to them.

Our Class Ethos:

In 1G, we believe in learning, playing, and growing together. Every achievement, big or small, is celebrated. Our classroom is a safe and supportive space where children feel confident, valued, and excited to explore new ideas and experiences.

Staying Connected:

We value strong communication with families and maintain regular contact to share updates, celebrate achievements, and work together to support each child’s journey via our Class Dojo account.
